And by hot water, we mean hefty fines of up to 30,000 THB (about £700) or, even worse, up to 10 years in prison. The law applies to everyone, whether you’re a local or a tourist, so it’s best to leave your vape kit at home.
So, why the strict stance on vaping? Thailand is very focused on public health, and the government views e-cigarettes as harmful, especially for young people. Officials believe that vaping could lead to nicotine addiction and, worse, become a gateway to traditional smoking, although many may use it for smoking cessation.
